A Musical Tour of Ireland

Turning inland from Killary Harbour, after leaving Leenane.

See the pyramid that's near Leenane,
Ride a bicycle through pouring rain,
Just remember while you're in severe pain --
You paid money for this!

Later I discover it's pronounced Lee-nahn. Oh, well. The Irish is An Líonán. The topo map gives the English as Leenaun.

Infinitely not quite yet to Westport.

They pedaled 'round the curve,
They pedaled 'round the curve,
They pedaled 'round the curve,
And what do you think they saw?

They saw another curve,
They saw another curve,
They saw another curve,
And what do you think they did?

They pedaled 'round the curve,

Repeat 'til your legs fall off, or you reach Westport harbor.

Gliding from Castlemaine to Inch.

I'm La a azy,

Lazy for shiftin'
Into
My low
Gear

Lazy for shiftin'…
Lazy for driftin'…
Uphill!

Lee, there were more words to this. Can you remember any of them?

Hoping Dingle Town is out there somewhere, and still open for business.

The long and winding road,
Leads me to a B&B,
Don't leave me peddling here,
Lead me to your door.

But still I pedal on…

Maybe SueP can help with more words. This one seemed to be her favorite.

Approaching Slea Head.

I'm gonna ride this bike on up to Slea Head,
I'm gonna ride this bike on up to Slea Head,
I'm gonna ride this bike on up to Slea Head,
And get myself some lunch.

If the sandwiches are yucky,
If the bread is old and stale,
Shed no tears, weep no more,
That is what the chocolate's for!

Peel it out of its paper,
And break it into squares,
Yo ho!
Yo ho!

From Killarney up to Moll's Gap.

There's a little grey road,
In a ten street town,
And the hills roll upward,
And the rain rolls down.

There was lots more to this. Maybe I can remember some eventually.

Down from Moll's Gap.

Down, down, down, down,
Three miles, four miles, five miles down.
Down from Moll's gap past the Ladies' View.
Down past the loughs and Torc Mountain, too.
Down to Muckross House rode we two,
Rode we two, rode we two.

It just seemed to be a good day for Lost in the Stars.
